When children's dreams come true

Once upon a time, many years ago, in Vietnam.

Spring had just arrived again and the air smelled sweet and enticingly of blossoms. From the well-watered rice fields, you could see the water vapour rising in the sunlight around noon. Often a dazzling rainbow formed. In the distance, imposing water buffaloes grazed peacefully and the laughter and shouts of children could be heard nearby.

They were two brothers and their younger sister who lived together with their parents in a small house on the edge of the huge rice fields. They lived a simple but carefree and happy life there.

On one of these mild spring days, the children's mother came back from the market in the afternoon. She had bought fresh vegetables and fruit there and also brought two Vietnamese Bánh Bao, which the children loved. They had been the last two at the market stall.

Without their mother having to say anything, the two brothers immediately decided to share a Bánh Bao and give their little sister a whole one. After all, she was the youngest and had yet to grow the most. It was a matter of course for the two of them, because their father and mother had always taught them to be generous and modest at the same time.

The little sister cheered and enjoyed it. The brothers also ate their halves with relish. That day, the boys thought about how nice it would be to open a restaurant themselves one day. They would then create and prepare the most delicious Bánh Bao in the whole country. And everyone would be able to enjoy as many Bánh Bao as possible. A dream was born.

But sometimes dreams have to wait. The brothers later parted ways for the time being. The eldest brother went ahead to a foreign country, to Germany. Only after a few years were his younger brothers and sisters able to join him. In their new home country, they each went their own way. But the brothers kept the idea of the restaurant in their hearts all the time.

And one day they felt that the time was now ripe to realise their childhood dream. And so in 2020, with great joy, they opened their restaurant "Anh Em", which translates as: "The Brothers".

The Bánh Bao, improved and refined, is of course also on the menu. It stands for the memory of a happy childhood and for the belief in a happy present and future.
